Best Shampoos + Conditioners
Shea Moisture Manuka Honey Shampoo and Masque
This line right here has stood the test of time. It has been with me from the beginning. I’ve tried my fair share of shampoos and conditioners but nothing makes my hair feel as good as the Manuka Honey shampoo and masque. The shampoo doesn’t strip my hair and the masque provides ample moisture back into those strands. Definitely a must-have for the Spring!
Redken All Soft Shampoo + Conditioner
My recent find due to suffering from high porosity hair (products are easily absorbed by my hair but moisture is hard to retain) is the Redken All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner line. I was skeptical at first but so impressed with my results when I got out of the shower. This line has an ‘exclusive RCT protein complex’ that treats the hair from the root to the ends. Making it a treatment that’s convenient! It has helped with my new high porosity hair so much!
Best Curl Creams
Zotos Professionals Taming Curl Cream
My favorite new line in my product family, this product is a game-changer! The taming cream leaves my hair fluffy and soft with lots of definition and volume. My hair curls so nicely. All together you get a bomb wash and go! I’ll be making my way through all their products in the spring! Check the link in the title for a starter kit.
Shea Moisture Red Palm Oil + Cocoa Butter Curl Stretch Pudding
My favorite stand-alone product is this curl pudding right here! Heavy in texture, it provides a maximized moisture for any style! I often use this product for protective styles seeing that it doesn’t pair well with most of my products. Therefore, it gets left out of many wash and go styles. Leaving it out of many wash and go styles. When using it, a sleek bun or braids will do.
Deva Curl Super Cream Coconut Curl Styler
I know Deva Curl has gotten the block due to its scandal with causing hair loss. However, this product here has done me no wrong. Many Deva Curl products never satisfied my tresses but this curling cream was amazing from first use. It is light with the right consistency for a quick style. It also pairs semi-well with other products.
Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting Butter
A curly hair product like this one is hard to pass on. This is my go-to product for when I’m doing protective styles! Whether that’s twists, braids, or tucking my hair into a bun, Almond Jai makes sure to lock in the moisture. I often do twist outs and braid outs. This product leaves your hair soft and style set.
Best Curly Hair Leave-Ins
Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave-In
My original A1 product! Kinky curly leave-in was with me through my transitioning hair phase. Great for any curly hairstyle, it has a great slip and provides the right amount of moisture for my hair. It also pairs really well with the majority of my other products. This makes it an easy number 1 in my book.
Camille Rose’s Lavender Leave-In
This product feels like a secret to me! I don’t see many people use it, but boy does it leave your hair defined and bouncy. Different from its sister product, this line has a consistency that is less thick. Makes for a great Spring wash and go or twist out for the spring!
Zotos Professionals Luxe Leave-In
I’ll reiterate that this line is great! The luxe leave-in provides a great slip as a base for the taming cream spoken about in the Best Curl Creams section. Making it a great curly hair wash and go combo!
Camille Rose Moisture Milk Leave-In
What can I say? Camille and I are best friends! The moisture milk leave-in has never let me down. I’ve experienced so much with my hair, from breakage to low and high porosity, but this leave-in here still stands strong. It’s moisturizing and makes for easy slip through your hair. It keeps my curls juicy and shiny.
Best Oils + Treatments
Miss Jessie’s Sweetback Treatment
Midway through my journey, I found this treatment from Miss Jessie’s. The Sweetback treatment smells almost like bubblegum and makes my hair feel super soft and rejuvenated after its use. I leave it in my hair for 30 mins before or after I’ve washed my hair. The preference is up to you!
Liberty’s Essence Growth Serum Oils
A friend of mine creates hair growth oils and I’ve had the pleasure of trying this bad boy over the winter. Let me tell you about this smell! It’s so good! It won me over automatically with my first use. Light and easy to apply to your hair and scalp. It is made with castor oil and rosemary to name a few ingredients. I definitely recommend this product. I use it on my edges as it provides me relief when I’ve manipulated my hair too often. Soothing my scalp and hairline. Check out Liberty’s Essence Oils @Libertys_Essence on Instagram to see if her products are available for you!
We know that with lots of manipulation, chemical use, and heat we can cause our pretty strands some stress. To alleviate that damage, this treatment is well known for repairing hair bonds. You can use this product along with others in the line or alone. The recommended use is 1-3 times a week depending on how severe your damage is.
Best Curling Gels
Camille Rose Lavender Crush Defining Gel
My go-to gel for when I want a semi to softer curl set. Different from its sister product, this line has a consistency that is less thick and creates a defined soft hold. Makes for a great Spring wash and go or twist out for the spring!
Aunt Jackie’s Elongating Curling Gel
If ever you’re in the need of less shrinkage, this product here is for you! With its heavy gel consistency and smooth application, you can’t go wrong with this curling gel. This elongating curling gel locks in my curl pattern and weighs the hair down as you air dry or diffuse, giving you longer defined curls. You also can’t beat the price!
Jane Carter Solution Curls To Go Elongating Gel
This product is an old love but still recommended! This gel here is the opposite of Aunt Jackie’s elongating gel, making it more light and airy in its consistency. The smell of it is also nostalgic as it reminds me of my aunt’s home when I was young. 🙂
Camille Rose Curl Maker Curling Gel
My sweet love for defined curls! It’s the curl maker for me! You can’t go wrong with this curling gel as it defines and gives a moderate to a slightly stronger hold if you’re looking for less frizz. I pair this often with the Camille Rose Moisture Milk Leave-In, making it my most used combo thus far.
It’s me and eco-styler until the end! It’s never a fail in my book with the use of this line. Its hold and softness are incomparable. I have not found another edge gel that can top it. What’s awesome is Eco Styler has multiple types of hold and so you can find one that works best for you! Another popular is the Argan Oil line.
