If there is anything that feeds my soul, it’s a great vacation. It’s getting into a car and enjoying the breeze on my face. It’s sitting on a plane seeing the world below me change across states or bodies of water, in awe of the nature below me. Why not make it more awesome by adding a few friends to your trip!
When I turned 21, I saved up enough money to get my passport. It was a commitment of mine to care for myself by traveling at least twice a year. For the last 9 years, I’ve researched the most affordable experiences and locations to travel to and it has been a blast! At the end of the day, traveling is a privilege and one I am grateful for.
I believe it’s important to share these experiences of traveling with others. Whether you’re thinking about getting a passport, taking a local trip, or even experiencing your first getaway, this post is for you to get inspired about the possibilities!
I’ll be sharing my favorite destinations, the pros + cons of each location, and affordability. Take a look at the list below to plan your next friend group trip, couple getaway, or solo adventure!
Mexico
According to my friends and family, I need dual citizenship. Mexico is my second home. Not only is Mexico gorgeous, but the options for what you may be looking for are endless! They have everything from family to Couple’s only resorts. Also, all-inclusive and luxury resorts that make you feel like royalty!
If you’re looking for a quiet and tranquil time, then staying in Riviera Maya or Tulum might be the location you’re looking for! The resorts in these locations are huge or small and intimate, creating an experience of solace and isolation. There are lots of trees and nature which make for a great serene experience.
If you and your friends are looking to party and turn-up, then Cancun’s hotel zone might be the vacation spot for your group. You’ll be in close proximity to local restaurants, fast food, and clubs making it a great location for friends to vacation together!
With many hotel options to choose from, there’s an affordable vacation spot for everyone. Where ever you choose, there are gorgeous views from every location on the coast and endless activities.
Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico is a natural beauty! With the beautiful architect and beautiful tropical colors, they are a must-visit vacation spot. While traveling from the east coast of the U.S, this location has been the cheapest hotel & flight package I’ve ever purchased. I stayed in Condado with a few friends. The price was roughly $500 per person for 3 nights and 4 days. Our hotel was within walking distance to restaurants, stores, and more!
A cheaper package allows so much more room for enjoying excursions and activities such as ATVs, a snorkeling adventure, or a trip to Castillo San Felipe del Morro, a 16th century Spanish Fort. The people are super down-to-earth and friendly, making it easy to experience local living. You feel welcomed! There are also plenty of local restaurants to dine at. So don’t forget to wine and dine in Old San Juan. The cuisine is too delicious!
Jamaica
Oh JAMAICA! You have views for days from your plane ride to your resort! Jamaica has some of the most beautiful all-inclusive resorts. Whether you choose to stay in Montego Bay or the very popular Ocho Rios, you are bound to fall in love with the nature of it all.
Ocho Rio is closer to the all-famous Dunns River Fall, making it a convenient location if you’re interested in visiting. I had the pleasure of experiencing Ochos Rio. Our hotel was about a 90 min ride from the airport. Guess what!? It was one of the coolest rides to my hotel I’ve ever experienced!
Our driver was super friendly! We felt as if we got a free tour as our cab ride. He allowed us to stop for snacks giving us a chance to interact locally. Being able to see the towns and beautiful landscape of the coast was amazing.
If you’re considering Jamaica as a possible vacation spot, narrow down your interests and then research which location caters to your needs. Create an itinerary and allow your hotel to support scheduling activities.
You can also take advantage of your resort amenities and just relax! I’ll definitely be visiting Jamaica again. There is so much more to do and see!
Cayman Islands
This location is one of the most gorgeous places I’ve ever visited. With the crystal clear turquoise water and the very friendly locals, what is there not to love about the Cayman Islands? Whether you’re staying in West Bay or even Georgetown, you’ll get a great taste of island living.
The Cayman Islands, like many of the smaller islands in the Caribbean, can come with a more expensive vacation price tag. However, the key to an affordable trip is to scale back on lodging expenses to enjoy what this island has to offer! The fanciest place isn’t necessarily always the best.
You’ll be spending way more time on the famous Seven Mile Beach, at locations such as Cayman Turtle Centre, or venturing off tasting some of the best foods. With a ton of activities to do on the beach such as dining, water sports, and relaxing, you’ll never want to go back home!
Planning for your first or next vacation can be super exciting. Any tips and suggestions can make for an easier experience planning, booking, and traveling. I like to use Jetblue Vacations or Cheap Caribbean to book my vacations. However, there are a few other great platforms to choose from. I hope you find yourself on one of these gorgeous beaches really soon! Happy Vacation Planning!
